Job Description

OOJ Homecare Services is looking for compassionate, reliable, and attentive Waking Night Care Assistants to join our care team in Leeds.

As a Waking Night Care Assistant, you will provide dedicated support to service users throughout the night, helping them remain safe, comfortable, and well supported. You will be responsible for responding to individual needs, monitoring wellbeing, and providing appropriate care throughout the night.

This is an important role for individuals who are comfortable working independently during night hours while maintaining a high standard of person-centred care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide person-centred care and support throughout the night.
• Assist service users with personal care and daily living needs when required.
• Support repositioning, mobility, and comfort during the night.
• Respond promptly to service users’ requests and changing needs.
• Monitor service users’ wellbeing and report any concerns or changes.
• Support medication procedures in accordance with care plans and company policies.
• Maintain a safe, calm, and comfortable environment throughout the night.
• Follow individual care and support plans.
• Maintain accurate and confidential care records and night reports.
• Provide reassurance, companionship, and emotional support when required.
• Follow safeguarding, health and safety, infection control, and company procedures.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and provide a clear handover at the end of each shift.

Requirements

• Previous experience in care or a similar support role is desirable.
• A caring, patient, and respectful approach.
• Ability to remain alert and attentive throughout overnight shifts.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and respond appropriately to unexpected situations.
• Reliable, responsible, and committed to providing high-quality care.
• Willingness to complete required training and professional development.
• Understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding principles.
